Lately itโ€™s been taking me about 30 minutes into my workouts to feel at full strength Anyone have any suggestions beyond stretching a lot longer before workouts?

Im actually thinking it could be related to carpel tunnel or minor tendinitis

What do your warmups look like now? I personally donโ€™t find stretching helpful at all, I do 5 mins of cardio and then a longer warmup under the bar. Also, pre workout nutrition makes a big difference, make sure youโ€™re getting some carbs in

It's all in your head When you enter the space, change your energy. Run in place. Do jumping jacks. BLAST heavy metal music. Dance. Whatever suits you. Take your energy level and focus from 0% to 110%

i feel like this every day lol.. no but seriously, takes a bit of time to get the muscles warmed up enough to really get after it. that being said, there are probably ways to shorten the time it takes to get you warm. dynamic warmups (vs static stretching) + even some light plyos/cardio might help prep the tendons

pre workout nutrition makes a big difference for me, i don't optimize too much on it, but if i eat a lot of fiber vs. carbs before a workout i feel like crap otherwise, making sure you're recovered and sleeping well at night

When I feel that way itโ€™s usually one of more cardio warmup / food / sleep that fixes it for me

i do a 30 minute low intensity Peloton cycling class before lifting for the same reason. itโ€™s made a huge difference, warmups are underrated!

Could be a few things that youโ€™ll prob need to experiment with. 1/n If itโ€™s generalized, lighter, vigorous, weighted warmups might help more than stretching. But itโ€™s not settled science https://youtu.be/swpmb4fNRLk?feature=shared

What does "feel at full strength" even mean? Some of my best performances/lifts was when I "didn't feel good". I haven't stretched in a decade. I just do warmups and pyramid up.

Get the heart rate to hit ~135-140, in whatever way works best. You'll be fully "activated" at that point.

Garmin coach usually recommend 5-15 min in zone 2, depending on outside temperature before any serious workout. Warmup is underrated. For me it works when I do a 15min bike before I can do 4km rowing.
