non customer ways to engage your customers:
ultimately people want to feel 1. Listened to and 2. Cared for
- interact with their content outside of your product, recast, like, comment, whatever. if ur my customer i will almost always like all ur shit
- when speaking with them, ask follow up questions about the things they have previously mentioned to you. Easy to ask about things they obviously love, their partner, kids, pet etc. get them talking about the things they love. Even more special if you can remember the name of their partner/dog or whatever, but if you can’t remember, cute nicknames win “wifey” “doggos” etc.
- I try to steer the conversation toward them. If you want someone to keep talking, just repeat their last sentence back to them and they’ll elaborate. I hate talking about myself so I make other people talk about themselves
- smile, nod, and make eye contact always. “Mmhms” go a long way. Being attentive and genuinely curious is all u need. 3 replies
