I like having limited choices - it makes me feel like I’m in control of my choices. Allows me to evaluate my options Its like diners in nyc - why is there an entire page dedicated to omlettes, how can one ever feel like they could make any sort of informed decision? Limited choices makes me feel better

Limited choices, let’s keep going with this restaurant metaphor makes me feel like things have been thought through for me, as if the creator had some say in making informed, thoughtful and researched opinions and interpretations- and I appreciate it That’s why i like the idea of being presented with a prix fixe

There’s an entire category called “menu psychology” https://www.wisk.ai/blog/how-to-use-restaurant-menu-psychology-to-get-more-sales And specifically on how limited choices are better: https://sevenrooms.com/en/blog/why-to-have-limited-menu/

Also, how can one chef be great at an entire page of omelets. Just show me that one omelet that will transform my morning, give me a taste of your absolute best.

this is why i keep saying perfect competition is good for price but not necessarily good for consumers they don't want to have to pick between 1000 things

Same. For my new record I am using only Stock Ableton Devices and no external plugins (except for my guitar amp emulation which runs the DSP on my audio interface so it’s flown in dirty). Prevents Option Paralysis and enhances creativity.

I think this'll even be a discussion we might increasingly have in crypto - where we need some sort of systems that help us reduce down sufficiently for us humans to not get paralysed by the choices that permissionless networks offer. I too love limited choices.

Choices are means to an end. Having too much hinders us from attaining it. After all, when we go out to have an omlet, we simply want to have the best omlet. Otherwise, I'd make it myself. (And be most satisfied by doing so!)

Single button on the (oven, microwave, appliance etc etc). The only option we don’t have (typically) is the option of low/no UI. (Yet choice explosions abound everywhere)

One of my fav spots back home was a tiny place ran by a French couple. Only had 4 options to choose from. Loved going there, no order paralysis, lessens the cognitive load of evaluating everything. Constraints are nice.

My ideal restaurant experience is one where the menu is nearly entirely void of choice. The chef tells you what you’re having, end of story.

This is why WeChat approach never worked in the west 😂. This mindset though is really different depending on where you are in the world, west has your view point, East tends to favor more options and choices. In Japan you need a manual to open the curtain or use the toilet.

and i've always thought about the fact that, if there are a million things on the menu, the chef prolly isn't particularly expert at any of them, but if there are just a few options, the chef can "specialize" in them
