I'm finding this a really interesting perspective in on AI futures on the political front, from an British angle plugged into the US (including an EU critical vantage point). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoG5EammWI4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdntsLCOyL8

Hey, just came up with a new variant on the "from our conversation history draw a picture of me prompt" for ChatGPT. The prompt is this: "Look through all my prior interactions with you and grade me on my writing skills." (I bet it is tweaked to say nice things about you)

Every new window snapping management whatever new thing macOS has introduced in the last 10 years I have almost immediately found the setting and turned off.

Every author you let into the intimacy of your own mind is performing a kind of firmware upgrade to your brain ๐Ÿง . Evolution figured out how to reuse the same circuitry for different contexts, the capacity to take multiple perspectives. Reading is reformatting your most close-in computational substrate.

I wonder what Google being forced to sell chrome will do to the open-source status of Chormium.

Oh god, this is so great. Prime reading Ryan Dahl, from 2011. Early early early days of Node (0.4.x...pre 1.0!!! I was there at that birthing..."JS on the server? JS everywhere?" Epiphany of the time.) Deno is further along now than Node was then. But man!!...the emotional insights and vibes...all that "technical PTSD" triggering these galant herculean attempts to pave the pain of the underlying heaving and frothing UNIX turing-tarpit with some kind of real "long term, maintainable, standards based simplicity tooling" is such rich sauce. "The [ONLY] thing that matters in software is the experience of the user." Love this so much. https://youtu.be/zYYvGM551I8?si=Z5GCmG1l74igvR9o

@kepano are there any good essays, or other places, I might find the origin story around Obsidian, and the philosophy and ethos animating the project?
