Help! What are your best tips to reduce LDL Cholesterol? I’ve been consuming more meat in the last year, due to going to the gym and seeking higher protein intake. Mostly chicken though, red meat once a week.

Sugar companies literally paid off scientists in the 60s to demonize fat instead of sugar. Butter is healthy. Red meat is healthy. Both reduce LDLs. Biggest change for me in LDL was removing 100% of seed oils and 100% of processed carbs. I eat noodles and bread (non enriched wheat) like once a week now max. It was hard but changed everything. More butter!

Aside from cutting out red meat more Eat more fruits like strawberries, raspberries to increase your fiber intake. Oh and broccoli is a cheat code. I consume like a cup a day because love it that much

i suspect there’s something sneaky that you’re eating (eg fried foods, seed oils) or that it has to do with the balance of your micronutrients (eg need more fiber). i’d have a hard time pinning this on chicken and red meat 1x per week. i’ve seen ldl counts for people who eat red meat daily lower than this.

One simple change: More fiber Ideally in the form of veggies crowding out less healthy carbs on the plate but also can use supplemental like Metamucil (drink plenty of water too). Also try strict meal tracking for a week to identify overlooked sources (dairy or hidden animal fats?) *even with everything optimized there’s genetic component too and you could consider starting statin or pcsk9 inhibitor in the coming yrs to minimize long term risk

i had high LDL a couple years ago and made some changes and got my levels back to normal earlier this year basically i cut out red meat almost completely (only ate it on occasion when i went out but never bought it/cooked it at home), reduced my egg intake (was eating a lot of hard boiled eggs back then), and started eating a lot more fish in lieu of meat

How's your niacin and fiber intake? It seems to me that whenever I've had levels randomly go wacky it can be traced to some micronutrient that I'm not having enough of. Do you supplement with TMG? my levels did exactly this when I was supplementing TMG every day. I reduced the frequency and it got them back on track.

Try to replace saturated fats (meat, cheese) with unsaturated fats (olive oil, avocados, almonds, etc) Also filling up on high fiber foods, i.e. sweet potatoes, oats, apples etc.

Remove processed food as much as you can from your diet and stick to lean meats like fish and chicken. Try to have an 80% goal where 80% of your meals are healthy. You may find you do more than that.
