I know this page is more for shitposting, but I thought I’d ask for some advice. I’m really struggling with my mental health, and if anyone has anything to share from their experience about what has helped them, I’d be really grateful.

walk a lot. eat well. go to bed at the same time every night. avoid alcohol and weed. don't consume media right before television. find someone to talk to, even if it's a stranger.

For me: write lots, mostly in a stream of consciousness style with zero filter. Write the dark, horrible and mean things, whatever. Then walk and work out. At some point make a conscious decision to move on and not indulge in thinking much about whatever the issue is. Working out most important imo.

Get a blood test panel to see if you're deficient in anything. I found out recently my iron levels were very low, really impacted my energy level and mood. Supplements made a huge improvement.

typically when I’ve met with people (in crisis) I tend to ask questions around sleep/diet/exercise. Deficits in each of these areas can have a huge impact on your mental health and stability. If you’re looking to talk with someone, I can follow up with recommendations.

Walks in the woods; make things with your hands; don't eat carbs; don't drink alcohol; sleep 6-7 hours a night; walks; write; make building buddies rather than drinking buddies...

breathing is one of our most underrated tools. yoga, meditation, and more mindful breathing has helped me a lot. this is my favorite podcast with very short and approachable meditations: https://open.spotify.com/show/7s1ydwJkcWeJD1TngMN9Rk you are not alone. 💕

working out is a big one for sure. I found yoga to be such a blessing for me now as I don't go the gym like I used to. I remember someone saying a lot of people start off working out for the physical and stay for the mental. bless you

my experience has been, yes, increasing exercise and better eating habits but a big impact has been treatment: - therapy - medicine (anti-depressants) A good therapist will very quickly pick up on things you say and find the threads of underlying issues that lie beneath. And work with different modes to establish better behavioral patterns to help cope. Invaluable.

Talk to your GP (General Practicioner) or whatever it is called in your country. They will help you with checking your physical health, improving your mental health and finding someone to talk to. Don't drink, walk 30min a day, no screen in bed.

Moving my body—whether that means taking a walk, going to yoga, turning music on and dancing, or even just physically moving my position to a new space—helps. For me, finding folks to be around and community is paramount. Some great stuff on this thread. Thank you for starting the convo. Sending you a big hug!

Yes. All of what has been said in the thread. But really, talk to someone. Pro or not pro. When you talk about it, that is the first step. Remember: you are not alone, and you are not the only one. So, there's help. Reach out. Feel free to connect via DM if you need.
