something i’ve observed anecdotally and loosely validated qualitatively is that someone’s reply:quotecast ratio when contributing to a conversation correlates to their ego (how they see themselves vs the rest of the community). not always a bad thing, but i’ll leave it at that. study people who reply > quotecast

I'm not a big quotecaster but when I do, often it is because I think that it will give the person more reach then a straight recast. I have no idea if this is true.

Quoting a cast and agreeing with viewpoint shows less ego especially when the viewpoint wasn’t the same as yours and you want to share what you’ve learnt

I’ve noticed in myself that if I want to participate, I reply. When my reply is a banger, I want to quote cast and yes I realize my ego is taking part I do believe that my reply won’t be seen by many other than the OP and my quote cast gives me more exposure which I sometimes crave

Quote Casting allows others to get more out of an interaction esp when the pay to chat comes into play. That and when things are really important, cool or just pretty as well as adding to the larger community convo it can get lost in replys. But I usually do both depending on the situation.

what is a ego-rich vs ego free ratio in your opinion? imo a good ration could be 3:1 of reply:quotecast. It's the golden ratio of pos : neg feedback

reply is for when you want to participate in the convo, qc is for when you want to start a new one (imho)

replying is def default to engage in convo and/or add personal thoughts to what the og said, trying to have a convo via qc seems strange lol when i do qc, it's bc i wanna amplify something i love and hope more ppl see it

i think quote casting is one way to add reach but i do prefer replying and recasting. of course there are times it’s not really necessary to quote cast

That’s quite an observation there Both suggests a deeper insight into how individuals position themselves in discussions, with replying showing g high tendencies of willingness to engage and add flows to discussions

Haha this is funny because I had been quote-casting for more reach but hated how I was casting so went back to replying. It’s a subtle shift but it makes a big difference
