something i’ve observed anecdotally and loosely validated qualitatively is that someone’s reply:quotecast ratio when contributing to a conversation correlates to their ego (how they see themselves vs the rest of the community). not always a bad thing, but i’ll leave it at that.

I’ve noticed in myself that if I want to participate, I reply. 

When my reply is a banger, I want to quote cast and yes I realize my ego is taking part

I do believe that my reply won’t be seen by many other than the OP and my quote cast gives me more exposure which I sometimes crave
