something i’ve observed anecdotally and loosely validated qualitatively is that someone’s reply:quotecast ratio when contributing to a conversation correlates to their ego (how they see themselves vs the rest of the community). not always a bad thing, but i’ll leave it at that. study people who reply > quotecast

that’s not necessarily true. It depends on the amount of feedback they’re getting. A lot of people do it because their reply gets tons of attention, and they feel like it’s worth it but people who don't get any feedback can only stick to replying
