The Olympics felt more washed this year Like a grand tradition that doesn’t quite live up to its past years’ glory Thinking it might be correlated with the general breakdown of the current world order, and may be yet another signal of a rearrangement to come Is it just me, or anyone else feel this vibe?

There is a sense in which the Olympics is the nation state s most idealistic expression The post ww2 order with nation states covering every inch of the globe since the sixties is wavering So feel the vibe in that sense In terms of the sports I enjoyed this years game s

Olympics glory peaked in 2004. some would argue that so did our civ. it's a corrupt, inhumane organization that has penetrated the psychee of every human being as the unquestionable authority over all of sports. I don't watch it out of principle.

watching specific races and events was definitely dope af. i think this feeling may come from not having a big television-centric experience with it where are all experiencing it concurrently.

I’ll add some of the energy comes from who you hand out with etc, we have one former track runner on our crew, so we naturally talked about the races. Our other crew members definitely tuned out though, so your perspective may be accurate for many.

I had a great time easily watching replays of my sports, but do think we lost the nationalistic experience we had when everyone was forced to watch whatever was on.

Here in the states I think it was pretty great, lots of good coverage of the track and field this week. I basically tuned in from ~9:30-11 each night and caught pretty good replays. Peacock app on Roku was good the couple of times we used it to watch random events with the kids - fencing etc. Definitely worked that the hyped US athletes came through too.

seems like general interest is on pace with previous years (that "projected" line should likely settle back around the tops of the others) pretty steady graph actually this vibes with my personal feelings, experienced the same level of interest/apathy I've always had

As a Parisian the experience was pretty great. Prob my best week spent in Paris in a long time. I attended fan zones and vibes were excellent, super chill and definitely was into it Think time zones and locations matter

Most of the Parisians I know loved it and were really into it. Lots of celebrations, pride and emotional outpours. Many romantic and euphoric montages. The city has also been a nicer place to be than usually in August without all the tourists.

Most definitely got the same feeling. Like maybe this is how the Romans felt while sitting at the Gladiatorial games.

This year was a nice revival compared to the dull Tokyo games (in which fans weren't allowed), and the running events were fantastic, but long term this feels true unfortunately

The tv coverage shows the same events every games. On a positive I thought Paris did an awesome job utilising infrastructure to host events. I don't think they blew a much money as other nations do.
