There are limits to “objective” reality as we can each only have a subjective experience. That’s said, we can get very close to objectivity with science and even legal systems. It’s a Sisyphean but worthwhile goal with all the benefits of modern technology and justice as evidence. That’s very different from having an aversion to objectivity, which is what despots and scoundrels show at every turn, and why they are at war with science.

Great interview with the man who would be Pope Leo XIV from about 9 months ago. tldr: this guy is far more about mercy and forgiveness than judgement. I'm not Catholic, but I do feel that most religions have the same roots 2500 yrs or so ago. They have grown different metaphors and stories to try to explain the roots. Now we have people worshiping the metaphors and stories instead of the source. My sense is that Francis and Leo seem to return to source behind the stories into what unites us all.
