Guess what? They’ve just discovered hidden tunnels under Italy's Sforza Castle! Ground-penetrating radar revealed these secret passageways that Leonardo da Vinci hinted at in his sketches. Turns out there's a hidden corridor linking the castle to the Basilica. How cool is that? 🏰✨

I'm in a Waymo self driving car in heavy rain and it's fascinating seeing that it's barely using the windshield wipers because it doesn't need them to see out the front window

It is pretty clear that Bitcoin as a blockchain is a colossal waste of energy. As BTC custody continues centralizing to a few ETFs, CEXs, institutions, in the long term >50% of BTC will be held by a handful of organisations Might as well just cancel PoW and move to PoA at that point. It would actually be *more decentralized* as PoW will inevitably centralize over to a handful of industrial players and pools due to crippling economies of scale. Plus, it'll solve the security budget problem. As before, the full nodes will be there as the last line of defence irrespective The only thing matters for BTC is it remains a speculative store-of-value, doesn't matter the mechanism to achieve that https://x.com/i/trending/1885868663116296256

If 30,000 of us who liked this each chipped in 10 yen, we could buy a one-way plane ticket and send someone back to their home country.

What is the best practice for keeping follower graph / topology fresh if you are not running a hub? Feels wasteful to hit Neynar every time to get this data (since it doesn't change much) Could cache results locally and update on a cadence. Downside of this is that it may not be as fresh, but could be good enough

https://ericmigi.com/blog/why-were-bringing-pebble-back " No one makes a smartwatch with the core set of features I want: Always-on e-paper screen (it’s reflective rather than emissive. Sunlight readable. Glanceable. Not distracting to others like a bright wrist) Long battery life (one less thing to charge. It’s annoying to need extra cables when traveling) Simple and beautiful user experience around a core set of features I use regularly (telling time, notifications, music control, alarms, weather, calendar, sleep/step tracking) Buttons! (to play/pause/skip music on my phone without looking at the screen) Hackable (apparently you can’t even write your own watchfaces for Apple Watch? That is wild. There were >16k watchfaces on the Pebble appstore!)"

users care about the certainty of many guarantees offered by blockchains ("you control these funds", "this app can't steal your username"), and decentralization (of different kinds) is part of what makes those guarantees hard https://x.com/ayyyeandy/status/1882705439571534004

more convinced than ever that everything becomes tokenized, but less sure how tokens maintain value when anyone can launch one or to put it another way: - everything will be tokenized - tokens trend toward zero unless they're meaningful anyone have thoughts on how to solve the conflict?
