Question for my easily distracted kin: how smart are your watches? I sport a $10 Casio watch that does exactly as little as I need it to. Imagining an Apple Watch feels like a nightmare for me but maybe useful for others?

I would be too distracted by a Casio so I wear a German chalet cuckoo clock around my neck on a chain and ask people to read the time to me.

most trackers are way too clunky for me - v intense sensory issues especially with things on my wrists, so most wearables and watches are out 🥲 I have an old ass Fitbit I only use when I exercise or go for long walks and hikes I also find if I wear a tracker too long/often, that becomes my hyperfixation in a bad way lol (like tracking every calorie burned, step taken, etc). so I’d likely choose a dumb watch if I could wear one all the time

I wear my Apple Watch for workouts then immediately take it off because of this haha. I’d love something like a Whoop that doesn’t have $30/month subscription.

I don't like the weight of a watch so I use my phone for everything.

Got one gifted and was worried it would be super distracting too It was at first but now I have notifications on only for the people and things/apps that I actually really need to not miss or seriously benefit from seeing health/schedule wise (basically friends/family line texts, appointment reminders and activity tracking) Tough to say how helpful it is but it’s definitely got more pros than cons now

Same, I can’t imagine a real smart watch being good for me. Especially a glowy screen and nightly charging. I use an old low end Garmin to see my HR and stress and sleep and track exercise. Disabled its notifications. Charge once a week. Also have a Casio that I sometimes wear traveling so I don’t have to worry about charging.

This was my go-to for the few years I wore one. I got all kinds of compliments on it, too. I’ve debated an Apple Watch for the health tracking but I don’t yet care enough to justify it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0194LWAGW

I have an Apple Watch and find the constraints with nearly all notifications disabled is actually quite helpful. I’m really almost never distracted by it and can dictate things into it for reminders, etc.

I've done the smartwatch thing a couple times. there's convenience, but it also became impossible to put distance between me and distraction. now I have a Shark Freestyle Mini that barely does more than the time, and that's ideal. I need a watch to help with my time blindness, but I won't go back to the smart variety.

I have used an Apple Watch for years. What someone said about letting you pick up your phone less often is true. Also I can’t hear my phone when it’s in my handbag, so the watch is useful when out & about. I turn off notifications that aren’t immediately helpful. Plus it’s good for encouraging fitness, reminding about medication, alarms and timers, etc.

Wild so many other people are Apple Watch for workout only. I am too. I’m either plugged in working on my phone or computer or I let myself off the clock.

I have a Garmin that I use to track runs, but I turned off all the smart features. I also have a couple Casios that I rock from time to time.

I mainly use my watch for timers and reminders. Everything else is on silence and I deal with it on my phone on a schedule otherwise it would be distracting AF
