I just bought two whole raw chickens on sale. I’ve never disassembled a whole chicken before. I feel accomplished that I learned something, and I really got exponential value for my dollar. 15 meals for $18. I may buy another one just so I can practice disassembling it..

Very good job but especially good price! In Japan is difficult to find one at less than 15$

I love butchering chicken. Try spatchcocking sometime, it’s easy and makes for an even cook.

This is awesome!! I’m so intimidated by the idea of breaking down a whole chicken. Might give it a try this week ☺️

In culinary school, we had to do this 100 times. I can do it with my eyes closed. It’s worth learning. Not sure about Canada but in the US, they can claim that the chicken is all American but it’s legal to ship to to china for processing and then send it back. That’s disgusting. How many times could the chicken not be kept at the right temperature, get contaminated, etc. I cut all my own meat when I can!

I get them quartered at the butcher, use the smaller parts directly and poach the rest for another day. I also say no to the insides.

I was so grateful that this was something my grandpa thought me. He used to buy 10 chicken and then he would cut them and prepare for winter. In Serbia we have this thing that we prepare food for winter, i guess its a tradition. So alongside my grandpa I learned how to cut it when I was in high school. Thank you grandpa.
