Nice try but I still think it’s a horrible idea to open up meaningful communication pathways with animals and I stand by that

I’m happy being ignorant of what my doggie actually thinks of me. Happy to live in ignorant bliss.

Are you talking about actual animals? I'm not sure I understand. How would have even be possible?

I feel like I missed some context. Was there something that prompted the original cast?

Oh interesting haven't heard too many people push back on this. What are the drawbacks and unexpected consequences you imagine? I met the team from Earth Species project and my sense is that having any level of two way communication would bring us into a richer connection with other living beings. All of my research is at its core about how humans might see themselves as part of nature again, and I think this is one of the most promising paths for building more connection and empathy in a technology-centric world.

You’re so right about that. Making it so that we can actually communicate with animals could actually blur the line between species. We’ll be shocked how overwhelming their needs could be tbh constant needs and emotional states, and it’ll just make co-existing with them more challenging 😭

I agree. people with toxic thoughts have a knack for spinning things and can easily sway public opinion. free speech shouldn't mean spreading any kind of ideology

gonna be akward to explain, to any animal, that for ~5000 years we've made it criminal to kill humans, while we casually mutilate and extinctify other species for fun, boredom or profit. people joke now about "orcas fighting back" sinking yachts, but if animals learn even a lil history, race wars are prolly justified.

I feel like animals are like humans Some of them are extremely emotional and some are senseless... I think we have to be lucky or search a lot to find what we want
