Farcasters clearly want to reward and get rewarded for great casts. - Degen tips - Ham - Moxie - Paybot Higher - Farcaster rewards - Rounds channel tokens (looks cool) Why haven’t any of these stuck yet and made big impact on quality content?

Because if a financial reward can be gamed, it will be gamed Also proliferation of a meme cultivates cult like behavior. Idk if cult casting is considered good content

I've often thought it needs to be a black box of creator rewards just like happens on twitter/youtube etc... No interaction, just rewards for good content keep the model moving and secret

Most of these are paid via seigniorage, with dubious long-term value...the exception being the USDC rewards which is $5 to 100 people. Start paying real stablecoins in size to make people pay attention.

one missing piece for good quality content within channels is curation. Its hard and time consuming, plus the current twitter like UX is not ideal. Launching tokens and communities is easy. Retaining is much harder. But communities with the right ethos/rules/vibes are resilient and will overcome this soon :)

I think a large portion of users driving the demand for these rewards are speculators and airdrop farmers, which don’t produce quality content

think as the rewards are still financial, the quest for really promoting quality content breaks. 5 $ to good casters is great initiative. But if its peer to peer tipping, probably social primitives such as you could spotlight someones cast on your profile etc. (getting them boost) might work better. Also quality content will always be less in volume - hence may be a TOFU problem itself.

Because curation and moderation are not easily decentralized, particularly when the issuers don't control the protocol's primary client.

Ask the founders of these projects and they will tell you that they have increased quality content on Farcaster. The problem seems to be that quality is inherently subjective, and defining it in a network setting like FC is difficult. When I look at the Degen and Moxie leaderboards, I see a lot of people gaming the system, while others see friends and active users contributing quality content. The success of these reward systems really depends on how well they fit with Farcaster’s core values. If the platform is meant for thoughtful conversations, then the rewards should encourage that. But if we are being honest, crypto culture is more about airdrops, farming, and pumping memecoins. Even with /rounds, which I’m a fan of, there’s been gaming. Most of the rewards seem to go to popular users instead of rewarding the content that actually deserves it.

Cus it’s all intertwined. Crypto at the end of the day is all about earning more. And when people see ways to earn more without the stress of “quality content” Well, bye bye quality content.. It’s just how it is, i guess
