don’t adjust your goals, adjust your actions in 2016 i was DESPERATE to jump 13 meters (42.65 feet for the americans) i did competition after competition but i just couldn't get past that barrier i realised that something HAD to change so i started doing sports psychology ( i also changed my diet, i mean it was SO bad i used to eat subway cookies and crisps for my lunch every single day) i learned to no longer be obsessed with the distance but put all of my focus into what i could control e.g sleep, diet, strength training in 2017 i became british senior champion for the first time at 19 years old with 13.68 metres! oh and if you haven't done it yet follow /actrackclub πŸ‘€

Sometimes we’re our own worst enemies. Interesting that sports psychology helped you break through those mental hurdles that translated to overall fitness improvements Followed πŸ‘

Great wake up call to change up my routine, read new things, chat in different channels, experiment, evolve, and try something new It’s like that quote you see on the wall of your local gym β€œInsanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” I mean it’s not insane to eat subway cookies but I think you get the gist

Reminds me of this paper about excellence in swimming and how elite swimmers level up. Looks like you rediscovered the idea in triple-jumping. https://academics.hamilton.edu/documents/themundanityofexcellence.pdf

Whoa, my PR when I was 19 (and also lifetime, unfortunately, tore my left hamstring and never triple jumped the rest of my collegiate career) was also 13.68m! Your progression is inspiring; loving all your content
