Do you think self-custodial wallets will remain the go-to for interacting with smart contracts? https://warpcast.com/pugson/0xd7b2da

99% of smart contract interactions will be built into apps with wallets inside them self custody for the user, experience controlled by developer power users will be able to interact with dapps however they won't but current paradigm will not stick for much longer

This basically eliminates the whole "single sign on for the entire internet" thing then right?

I'll take the opposite side of that: in 10 years, majority of onchain interactions will bypass bespoke contract frontends and will use procedural frontends (either a feature embedded in wallets, or standalone provider).

i do not want an infinite number of addresses as a user though. how do you imagine self custody happening when wallets are built into a ton of different dapps? something like https://usecapsule.com/ ?

This is how we currently do it at Bunches. 80k+ users with self-custodied wallets, with experience controlled by us.

I don’t think I agree with this. I consider embedded wallets a great bridge to onboard newbies who don’t wanna deal with seed phrases until AA is ready. There’s still a lot of potential security flaws with them https://twitter.com/0xngmi/status/1704615765687607423?s=46&t=Ngl1sElWUn3Od1WsMs2f0Q

Agreed, feels like magic when using apps likes https://privy.io that integrate wallets under the hood We did something similar at https://freeport.app with in-app wallets that contained the transferable assets Made the UX silky smooth and also allowed power users to self-custody if they wanted to

I agree embedded Wallet with gassless tx is the future. We do it in our app. Can be accomplished with web3auth circle or Coinbase MPC wallet solutions

The issue isn’t about apps having wallets in them, it’s about apps getting seamless access and interactions with end-user accounts. Taking the path of embedded wallets gives them more control/flexibility over this matter, hence every future app going for that and every user ending up with multiple accounts. 1/2
