Will block anyone that behave in a way I donā€™t tolerate (toxic/agresdive, strongly pushes a certain narrative). I just donā€™t think we should interact with each other in any way and thatā€™s a way out

if thatā€™s what blocking(or muting) is then iā€™ll accept that iā€™m unable to tolerate seeing *people* i donā€™t like in *my cozy corner*. i care too deeply about things(fml) so to watch ppl spew nonsense or be disingenuous does affect my mental health until i remind myself to let go of things i cannot control. unfortunately for me it only happens when i donā€™t have them in my bubble. on other social media iā€™ve mostly only muted people, never blocked unless theyā€™re scammers or spammers.

Negative energy, intrusive thoughts or just pointless complaining / trolling can be a drain and may be worth a block

Blocking people for purely *what* they believe is weak. Blocking people for *how* they communicate is a strength. I enjoy kind people who disagree with me. It makes me a better thinker. I tend to block assholes, even if they agree with me or my worldview.

What if I dedicated myself to responding to at least one of your casts per day with solely a picture of a vulture? How many days would you tolerate that for? Or would you count that as stalking? Technically thatā€™s what vultures do, I guess.

nope, not reductive enough, let's try again: not following someone is a weakness, follow everyone* are you seriously unable to tolerate seeing thoughts that have no relevance to you? *no exceptions

I disagree, because this is a real phenomenon for me. I welcome varied POVs but block brainworms and idiots because my attention is too fractured as it is.

Ct turned into repeat sales, not info or chats. Why consume this? Getting exposed to the same nonsense lets you see the same/new/bs narrative from certain influencers that they try to push down peopleā€˜s throats but it doesnā€™t help me/you in any way. Iā€˜ve def spent too much time fighting back nonsense online. Filtering, Blocking words and people is like a healthy diet without the option of falling back into bad diet.

it isnā€™t, everyone has what ticks or triggers them, if cutting communication (blocking) does that, they might as well do. reduces future discord

I think itā€™s fine if people can control over what they see and donā€™t see. Attention has never been more scarce. Not everyone goes on social media to have their opinions changed, or have the energy to change someone elseā€™s.

Reframed: Avoiding ideas you donā€™t like is a weakness. Way too many real stories of harassment for me to support the anti-blocking lobby. I count myself lucky Iā€™ve never had to mute or block. But I want it around should I need to in the future.

Thereā€™s another category here: not thoughts you donā€™t like because they are thought through but you dislike the outcome, but because they arenā€™t thought through, or because they feel spammy, or because they exhibit some other personal trait that you donā€™t want to see All valid reasons to block

yeah...someone said some antisemitic bs the other day and i wish i'd had block then. it's a social signal of where the overton window is at (some people need to be reminded) as much as anything else
