Thanks for making my first week co-hosting the /books channel a welcoming one! So far, I’ve mostly been watching and thinking. I’m curious—this channel is already pretty great for book recommendations. What other bookish things would we like to happen here?

Another thing: book clubs are an obvious thing for book-related groups of people. But lots of book clubs I’ve been in aren’t that great. Are there uniquely farcaster ways to do book clubs?

One thing that keeps running through my mind is it isn’t just about the books, it’s about getting to know people who love books, because those are my favorite kind of people. What are ways we can get to know each other through the books we love?

If there was some way to divide this into library sections like: - fiction - non fiction Well I actually mean - books (I want more of) - crypto books (I don’t feel like I need more of)

Open up, enagage, share thoughts around the idea of reading itself, maybe pictures of the places where they read, process, medium. I want it to be more than just book recommendations. There’s so much potential. It hurts me every day that this isn’t my favorite channel by default.

The first thing I do when I finish a book is try to find someone else who read it so we can discuss it. Unsure how to facilitate that here, though. Maybe partner with ReadCast?

I'd love to see talk of onchain book projects like Book.io which is my pick for cross-over web3 to normie winner in this cycle. Poised to be one of those applications that people didn't know they needed until they're using it.

Should we create something of a rating setup? (Scores, emojis etc) stick the rating after every book review...could be awesome

The book has always been a place of reunification. No matter how much we vilify tech, AI, virtual modernity, etc., the book remains, in whatever form, in whatever era, a place that brings people together and sparks conversation. Thank you for this wonderful initiative! I'll be coming here often 😍 🔥

How about launching a blurb writing contest? Who can craft the most captivating blurb for a book. The winner could then be inspired to expand their blurb into a short story.
