Thanks for making my first week co-hosting the /books channel a welcoming one! So far, I’ve mostly been watching and thinking. I’m curious—this channel is already pretty great for book recommendations. What other bookish things would we like to happen here?

One thing that keeps running through my mind is it isn’t just about the books, it’s about getting to know people who love books, because those are my favorite kind of people. What are ways we can get to know each other through the books we love?

Maybe we could encourage people to cast more about what their bookish interests are and what kind of reader they are. It may feel out off place because right now the focus is very much on the books themselves, but even recommendations can become more meaningful when you know who is behind the recommendation.

May be organize a thread once a week where you encourage readers to quote the fascinating lines they read last week. Book always teach us something and we do remember that one punch line from a book!

I think this is interesting thinking track. For example when I see posts with January reading list or recommendations and I notice one or two books that I have read and love this person gets automatic follow and I will buy every other book.
