I posted this on LinkedIn and it kind of blew up and I actually don't totally understand why? That algorithm and community is mysterious to me . . . https://www.linkedin.com/posts/rachaelhorwitz_i-place-comms-people-in-roles-at-early-stage-activity-7295227428610707457-zGTz?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAApKYIB1syfXg0u9kvtnvEknmQyLvMRpl8

X feels increasingly like a ghost town after the election. I don't cast this lightly, what do you think?

In the best tech startups I’ve worked at or supported, the people who credibly define a problem, propose bold solutions, and then build a track record of being right (on both counts) rise to the top. If you’re just starting your career in startups being solution-oriented is really great and valuable but not if people don’t think you have a good grasp on the problem.

Why are the cars old? https://thetab.com/2025/01/31/inside-the-eye-opening-reddit-theories-about-why-all-the-cars-in-severance-are-so-old

I think this is right -- my main theory right now is that Mark and his wife Gemma were targeted by Lumon (for some reason). She wasn't killed in an accident (they kidnapped her or something and faked the death) and he was somehow manipulated into joining Lumon and undergoing the procedure.

OK having thought about it, my first theory based on S2E1 is this: They ended the show by making us think it was the innies choice to stay at Lumon and that they all made that choice. (and btw that choice is rational to me, not returning basically kills the innies . . which is wild) But the thing is, it's really not their choice. The outies can choose to not return to work. That's why the episode didn't include the outies. I think we're going to see a much different vibe with the outies, they may have demands, and a big question is do the innies and outies collaborate (find Mark's wife for example) or do they end up opposing each other?

“Every ritual, every mitzvah, every syllable of the Jewish story… is a protest against escapism, resignation or the blind acceptance of fate. My main question heading into Season 2: > how old is the procedure to get severed? Like is every severed worker at Lumon Industries the first to do it? Or are we several decades in? It doesn't feel like Lumon totally understands the effects of the procedures longterm on people?
