Since I am trying to cut down on online shopping, I went to some of the fancy department stores here to find a warm wool knit. This is how it went. Why would I spend 200 euro on that?

yes wool is best, personally like merino and cashmere bc they regulate temperature and moisture very well if you need a bit outdoors underlayer merino check Smartwool, and Uniqlo has nice affordable cashmere and bc wool is very durable and easy to repair, I always find nice stuff in secondhand stores, but takes a bit more effort

Yeah I don’t buy that stuff. It’s actually quite frustrating that that’s all there is anymore at department stores. I started going to smaller boutiques as a result. Found a lovely Irish clothier which sells pure wool/cotton clothing.

Literally me rn. I’m trying to find a nice chunky wool scarf & hat combo with an interesting design and everything is polyester 🫠

Yes, I hate that there's plastic in everything. I used to find good pieces at Uniqlo (but nowadays you have to be careful) Luckily I still have a lot of old Polo RL stuff (the old ones are still good quality) You really have to look for them today... Natural fibers are really luxury today (and to use a trend word "quiet luxury" 😬)

feels like they’re charging extra just for the ‘fancy’ factor

I bought last year two cashmere sweaters in used shop, very good quality and warm. Maybe you can find similar in Germany, don't waste your money with plastic clothes.

Sadly this is true, but also material has to be touched. I don’t trust those labels either
