The first snow ❄️ is here! No winter wonderland yet... I think Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker is perfect for the day. https://open.spotify.com/track/38cYmA8SF9I2FRbfNdRyVZ?si=ECgxXyxNTqGltz6ZhDMZkw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2iSnhJkhjF7cusjoPYD8sx

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And see the great Achilles, whom we knew. Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. The end from Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

The execution of Lady Jane Gray Her story is really tragic, she was queen for only nine days. It’s believed she was only 16 years old when she was executed. Tom Holland did a podcast series on her story. https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/the-rest-is-history/id1537788786?i=1000593076100

New Peter Thiel interview on the Hoover Institution’s "Uncommon Knowledge" Peter Thiel on his interpretation and views on the end times, technology and societal progress. I don't agree with him on everything, but I find it interesting to follow his thoughts and theoretical considerations. (I haven't seen the interview in full yet) @phil I tag you directly this time ;-) https://youtu.be/qqHueZNEzig?feature=shared

Saturday Startup Stories (S3) is really becoming one of my favorite YouTube channels. Their production quality is really good and very informative for non technical people like me. Here is a new mini documentary about the Bell Lab. I was already familiar with Bell Lab in the context of telecommunications and electronics, but I didn't realize that they were so fundamental to the development of post war technology (vacuum tubes, radar, …). One could say, they were the Silicon Valley 1.0. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c-cSeTz3dMg

Fantastic essay on the value of reading old books by @naomiii I'm currently reading Plato's Republic. To be honest, I have to say that I find it difficult to read old books. I am someone who likes to read very fast and many books at the same time (this comes from my childhood where we read as many books as possible on vacation for the competition). What I have discovered is that you have to read old books in many small sections unlike today where you read a book in a few sittings. I also do this with the Bible where I only ever read sections.

Roy Lichtenstein: A short portrait (approx. 10min) Roy Lichtenstein has always been one of my favorite Pop Art artists. I think his unpretentious choice of motif (comics) appealed to me as a child. He was my introduction to Pop Art (I think for many it was Warhol) I think his rather strict graphic approach (dot grid, primary colors) is what makes him stand out among the other Pop Art artists and also makes him interesting for graphic designers. https://youtu.be/gOsLpoa6c_4?feature=shared

Observation: Crypto and email don't go together. Whenever I get an email related to crypto, my first thought is: spam. (Whenever I get an email from Consensys - I don’t know if they are legit or not?) I've never been scammed, but I don't even bother to open them, they just go in the trash.

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. — Søren Kierkegaard I'm thinking about that a lot at the moment.
