I've always had major insomnia and since starting Bountycaster it only got worse to a point where a couple weeks ago I had to make it my #1 priority to improve since I was so sleep deprived. What's been working well for me (in order of helpfulness) - just go to sleep earlier (set a cutoff), always endless work as a founder that can keep you up really late - not taking long naps to catch up on sleep during the day - don't eat past 8pm - more cardio - write down all things worried about before sleep so it's out of mind - reduce screen time right before

Leaving phone across room or in another room + reading a book in bed have helped me sleep better

I didn't know there was a distinction here till very recently: is it specifically falling asleep or waking up in the middle of the night or both? Also like @manansh recommended my gut says that breathwork (see @albiverse) might be the highest leverage thing you can try at this point Fwiw I'm also trying to fix waking up in the middle and not being able to fall sleep again

the writing down things has been a huge one for me. the more your head is filled with things you have to remember the less relaxed you are. here at the cabin i do struggle to sleep for some reason. at home I sleep better for some strange reason.

Yes to all the above!! i've had insomnia for a few years - much less now I haven't had any in 2 months! it was the worst when i was deeply burnt out in 2021. but the positive end is that it was a huge motivator for me to explore new practices HIGHLY recommend doing yoga nidra (Huberman likes to call it NSDR) whenever you struggle falling asleep, or as a post-lunch replacement to a nap. Its a powerful way to relax deeply and recuperate and therefore knowing you can do it alleviates the pressure that goes with not falling asleep. Over time you get better and better at relaxing and leaning into parasympathetic mode. Its been a big contributor to rebalancing my nervous system. My go to creator is Ally Boorthrouyd on Insight timer! More recently Buteyko breathing has really made a difference as well for me. Keep going and take care Linda! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZh3YjbseCc

Intermittent fasting / time restricted eating (8/16 window) completely changed my life and totally eliminated insomnia for me. Also completely eliminated focus issues.

I have the same issue :( My top tips are: - don’t drink coffee or tea after 4pm - don’t watch TV before bed - don’t look at the phone at least 30 min before bed - ideally early dinner, shower, book

I feel you! For me cardio/training and connecting with nature helps a lot. No coffee after 2pm. I started using earplugs and sunset glasses. But not sure they had a big impact tbh. My main problem is waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall asleep again though.

after writing down those thoughts, do they seem less important? like they bother you less, and you can sleep better?

I've found cold bedroom temps to be helpful for quality as well. Also low light environment towards the end of the night helps quite a bit too, I think people just forget that you can operate without the brights on. Best of luck!!

This helps, I struggle with sleep from time to time too I’ve found writing things down, cardio, and having a couple of things that force you to wake up early helps (driving my partner to work at 7 am, setting really early meetings when possible, etc)

Warm liquid to ease into bedtime helps me too! A sleepytime tea or warm milk. Honestly I think lack of sleep has aged me 10 years in the last 3 years

I remember your post from back then There’s still something I’ll recommend tbh After writing down all the things you worry about Have some breathing exercises with maximum concentration . I need you to give it a try Use the tide app and you’ll see a few audios that will guide you through Hope you see this :)
