It doesn't take a lot to maintain muscle once you have it https://x.com/SandCResearch/status/1810602350261764563 i myself have found my own experience to be in line with the findings here. i haven't worked out proper since I moved but diligently train 3x a week. max pullup sets et al all still the same

All of this entirely depends on perceived intensity If there is no intensity, you might as well consider the sets nonexistent

I wonder if that is also true for connective tissue loading; strength memory seems to rebound quickly, but might make you injury prone if ligaments don't. Have heard new research anecdotes that drinking EAAs throughout the day reduces muscle wasting when in a caloric deficit. Going to try that myself! 2000 $degen

I wish we had information on doing 7 sets a week and could see how it could have negative effects! I still see people who train hard every day.

I've always heard 6 sets was min Just upon quick research, stumbled on Huberman's muscle growth ep where he says 5 sets min Praying that 3 is the real number

I used to be quite good at strength training. I had 300 lb bench etc. Haven't been in the gym at all in 5 months. Started doing push-ups for some discipline lately. Still hitting the same reps and sets as I was when I was benching 300. I assume I haven't lost much if any strength. We will find out when I get back in the gym next week.
