Right. L looks unfinished/inconsistent with the fade of the rings and overall effect. If you want it to stand out more as an L Iโ€™d work on increasing the contrast somehow (paler, outline etc.?)

I'll take a counter position here: Depends what you want folks to think + feel. If you want the "L" to stand out, go with flat. If not, gradient is fresh.
