tiktok will replace google i am part of gen-z, i know many people who are gen-z, i've seen it first hand kids (10-25yo) explicitly saying that they'll look up their question on tiktok instead of google because they get better information

Looking things up on tiktok today feels like the equivalent of looking things up on Wikipedia when I was in high school. Looked down upon but probably more accurate than anything else. (I don’t use tiktok so can’t confirm the accuracy)

Agreed I’m a gen z My flow of finding info is: - tiktok first - chatgpt next - google last Reason being: ads are optional on tiktok (you can always swipe away), you can swipe to another reputable tiktok, and the search is rlly good

What is TikTok actually good in realm of search? I cannot imagine anything beyond food, local recommendations. Hints?

“Better information” is difficult to define here. There’s a high likelihood they’ll get more polarised information for anything even slightly political.

Idk how i feel about tiktok, never had this feeling of 'unassured' regarding getting info on other social medias, just my guts. Entertainment is another thing though, tiktok excels that

Only for anecdotal experiences imo It won’t replace question -> answer, but it has high potential to replace “is X worth doing” X = restaurant, destination, activity etc

Please don’t fud my bags! Jk of course. I still don’t have a tiktok account but even from the outside looking in it’s hard to deny its place for sharing experiential information. Google may get smarter with information but its historically questionable product decision are gonna leave it behind imo.

Between TikTok (for recommendations) and ChatGPT (for like everything else), I rarely use Google anymore.
