i can tell you with certainty (data) that long tweets get A LOT more engagement than threads these days, and that when a thread does get engagement it's only the first post in the thread usually that gets any action

I prefer threads because I know theyโ€™re a thread before I start reading. When I expand the tweet and get bombarded with an essay it throws me off. I ainโ€™t reading allat

I like the writing experience, but you lose that per-chunk like/reply split points which are also kinda special in their own way.

compared to one short tweet, it's not good at all. compared to a thread, it's a tradeoff of scrolling for extra clicks. worst UX is thread of long tweets with extra clicks.

If thereโ€™s just one long tweet itโ€™s ok, when itโ€™s a convo or thread of multiple long tweets the UX is awful because I have to click every tweet to read it

No. Constraint is source of innovation. Hard constraints on # of chars: * incentivizes to go to the essential. * incentivizes iterative story developments, live. * allows readers to highlight the pieces they โค๏ธ, the ones they ๐Ÿ”„, and others. * allows wild drifts creating semantic trees easier to follow.
