A lot of people don't go beyond the direct benefits of social model, like direct healthcare or education; but they miss the exact point you made - infrastructure, stability, and even military benefit the rich exponentially more than the average citizen. Their "fair share" is a significantly higher % (in my view 90%+ at $10M+ levels).

Also the other thing I don't get is why do we even propose discrete tax brackets instead of a smooth tax function to avoid cliff effects.

Our current tax system is progressive because we pay the same rate within each tax bracket. Only the portion of income that falls into a higher bracket is taxed at the higher rate, not the entire income.

Anyone who tells you it’s not fair either doesn’t understand taxes or is lying to you.

Why is everyone so against a flat tax for everyone ?

Big win for stablecoins today

A reminder that Sherrod Brown (voted out) and Elizabeth Warren were the reason a bipartisan bill from the House last year never had a chance to see the Senate floor.

Here's a rough overview of the bill:
- Federal oversight in most cases
- Increased transparency requirements and public disclosures, i.e. are stablecoins backed with real assets
- Some compliance stuff

Ultimately, will be a boon for fintech / tradfi adoption. Which will normalize using public blockchains for more practical stuff.

I would expect in the medium term this benefits decentralized stablecoins like DAI.

Many Democrats, including moderates, are furious, because the bill solidifies Trump's control over the Executive Branch (see left). More broadly, people see this as a key moment to register disapproval with Trump and make the GOP own a shutdown.

Too many pundits are missing just how apoplectic the Democratic base is right now. They revile Trump. Revile Musk. They see the economy collapsing. They see DOGE wrecking livelihoods. If Senate Dems don’t stand up and say enough is enough, this party is at a breaking point.
