I got a physical button in the office that you can press and it does text to speech into a speaker in the kitchen that says "snacks please". Not sure if that counts as automating.

I made an Apple Music shortcut that plays the most recently added, yet unplayed all the way thru album that plays it all the way thru. If I somehow get thru the entire library, it will play the least recently played album all the way through.

My living room lamp now turns on when I walk in the room and turns off 30 minutes after no motion detected. Haven’t touched the light switch in months.

i take notes on index cards, where each card has an ID number, categories, source, and body. i have a custom gpt that takes pictures of those cards and creates markdown files so that i can search them easily, and use AI to operate on all my cards. gives me the best of both an analog and digital system.

My first 'big' app I ever built was because I hated journaling, but knew it was good for me. However, I couldn't write mobile apps (yet). So I wrote an app that used twilio to text questions to my phone and kept track of my streak of answering them. I don't know if that counts as automation but I still find how convoluted it was hilarious. A close second was a 'trash day' raspberry pi that lit a light in my office when it was trash day because I for some reason could never remember.
