On November 22, 1987, during a prime-time broadcast, two Chicago TV stations were overtaken by an unknown hacker wearing a Max Headroom mask. At around 11:20pm CST, an episode of Doctor Who was interrupted by the harsh buzz of static. The image bled away to reveal a man standing in front of a rotating corrugated metal background. The figure began mumbling incoherently and rocking back and forth. Eventually he exposes his backside while he's swatted with a flyswatter from an off-screen companion. Decades later, the Max Headroom incident is still unsolved, fueling conspiracy theories and remaining a legendary piece of cyberpunk lore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjeUuakHsLw&t=6s

Restarting "Reassess Your Chess", determined to get through the whole thing this time. I'm also a fan of Silman's Endgame Course as well! Wish me luck! What's your favorite beginner/intermediate book?

"The Goal" by Eliyahu M. Goldratt should be required reading for anyone building any business, or building any system, to be honest. The audiobook is great and it's on Spotify. Not many books that I read twice in a row.

designer wooden boxes for storing creatine on your work desk-- so you don't forget to take it every day. for some reason I find this such a hilarious business idea that might just work. i use a mason jar right now and my creatine intake has never been more consistent. i guess james clear was right.

I used to think that product matters more than marketing. An obviously dev-centric view. I had the "if you build it they will come" mentality. I'm now realizing that marketing matters as much, if not more than the product itself. This is because the concept of dependent events. Before somebody can gain value from your product, they first have to use it. Before that they have to purchase it, and before that they have to hear about it. Somebody gaining value from your product/service is purely dependent on that chain. For the next step to happen, the previous has to have happened. If you had the cure for cancer but couldn't tell anyone, it's meaningless. The value is stored and can't be leveraged. I believe that this is the case for most products. But Jake, what about word of mouth and referral? These are valuable concepts, and part of any successful product. But the initial marketing starts the flywheel, it lets you improve the product to GET TO word of mouth and referral.

On the off chance I can save somebody: Supermaven (I believe?) recently released an update that bound the escape hotkey. Which is a problem if you're a vim bindings user. I originally thought my keyboard was broken when it was just Supermaven eating escape clicks. You can add the following snippet to your keybinds to overwrite the supermaven binding, and keep your vim escape.

USDGC Spoilers ahead: Proctor's rollaway is what I imagine a disc golf themed nightmare would look like. Except I'd be naked and my high school teachers would be in the gallery yelling at me why I didn't get my homework done. But other than that exactly the same.

Took a longish break from Chess. Probably the longest since I started playing. Came back and feel stronger than ever! Remember to take breaks, I think it helps consolidate a lot of ideas.
