…. Some social media users are trying to claim that BMW deliberately limits the capabilities of its cars, which is not true. In fact, similar practices existed before, just in a different form. An example would be the ability to choose options when purchasing a car. Any automaker offers the opportunity to purchase a more equipped version of the car for an additional fee. However, what really caused a backlash was BMW's idea to include a heated seat option as standard, but make it only available through a subscription. This decision was received extremely negatively, although few mentioned that customers could pay for the option once and not worry about a subscription. Critics argue that BMW voluntarily limits the capabilities of its cars by offering users subscriptions to features such as high beam assist. However, subscription is just one option. For example, in the UK, an automatic high beam subscription costs £10 per month, £100 per year or £150 for three years.

Recently, posts began to appear on social networks criticizing BMW for providing software updates that, according to the authors, no one needs. However, these accounts have their own goals - gaining likes and comments, using resonant topics to generate income. BMW offers its customers over-the-air (OTA) updates, which can be purchased in full or on a subscription basis. These updates include map updates, improved camera features (such as recognition of stationary speed cameras), and other features such as customized sounds for electric vehicles or adaptive suspension. Like any other company, BMW strives to increase its earnings. It's important to note that the company has been experimenting with digital shopping for a long time. Back in 2015, owners could use the iDrive 5 infotainment screen to install free navigation updates, contact the concierge or renew certain services. Two years ago, the company even offered discounts on OTA updates in some markets….

BMW X5 2025 will be similar to the previously presented Vision Neue Klasse X concept The front of the car features a closed grille and streamlined concept-style headlights. The side profile features a longer wheelbase and hidden door handles. The interior of the new product has also undergone changes: instead of a curved dual display, it is planned to install a large central screen and a separate, smaller display for the driver. Apparently, the new X5 will be available with a variety of powertrains, including six-cylinder diesel engines, petrol units with a mild hybrid system, and plug-in hybrids with a fairly long electric range. In addition, the appearance of an all-electric version of the iX5 cannot be ruled out. The new generation of BMW X5 is designed to strengthen the model’s position in the large-size premium crossover market, combining innovative technologies and traditional brand values.

And now for the sad news... BMW X4 - that's it. The company will stop producing this coupe-crossover BMW will discontinue the X4 crossover coupe. A company representative told Motor1 Italy about this. The explanation for the abandonment of the BMW X4 is simple: after the release of the much larger BMW X2, there was no room left for the BMW X4 in the company's lineup. In addition, the cars have become close not only in terms of size, but also in price. BMW has not announced exactly when sales of the crossover will stop, but given that the new BMW X3 will soon appear in showrooms, the BMW X4 may leave the line soon. According to Motor1, it is unlikely that the model will survive until 2025.

The newest BMW M5 can already be ordered in Russia. The car was presented just two weeks ago The official premiere of the new BMW M5 sports sedan took place on June 26, and the new product can already be ordered in Russia. The most affordable options are from dealers from Vladivostok for 16 and 18.9 million rubles. A Moscow dealer valued the car at 26 million rubles. For comparison, the cost of a new BMW M5 in the G90 body in the USA is 119.5 thousand dollars, which is approximately 10.5 million rubles. All cars have one power plant - there are simply no alternatives. The new generation BMW M5 has become a hybrid, in which a 4.4-liter V8 engine produces 585 hp. combined with a 197-horsepower electric motor built into an 8-speed automatic transmission. Total system power is 727 hp. This time, BMW has the most powerful M5 in history, but it is also the heaviest. Therefore, the dynamics are even worse than those of its predecessor: the sports sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.

According to the seller, during the entire time it was in Russia the car had one owner, the car was never in an accident. Under the hood of the BMW Z8 there is a 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 400 hp. in combination with a 6-speed manual transmission.

BMW electric cars outsell Mercedes-Benz and Audi We have somehow become accustomed to thinking that the largest German brands have given up on electric cars. Let's say Mercedes-Benz is once again investing heavily in the development of internal combustion engines, while Audi is going to discontinue the Q8 e-tron model, which simply does not enjoy the required demand among buyers. In fact, in the first half of 2024, deliveries of BMW electric vehicles increased by 22%, while those of Mercedes-Benz decreased by a quarter and remained unchanged at Audi. In absolute numbers, the progress also looks good, with deliveries of BMW's battery-powered models such as the i4 and iX1 totaling 107,933 units, while Mercedes-Benz's were at 45,800, more than double the gap!

Part 2. Therefore, seeing the disgusting quality of spare parts, in all of the above components, out of necessity, good Japanese parts were installed, which helped the car “technically resurrect.” But this is not the most painful thing. The worst thing is that the relative, the brother who sold this car, is trying to convince him that “everything is installed new, you don’t need to stick your nose where it’s not needed,” and also “you don’t understand anything, you’re stupid.” At the same time, for some reason the relative is silent about the quality of the spare parts, or is making a fool of himself who does not understand who he is. That's how it is, friends. I needed to talk a little :) If you want, I can send you photos of the car later for evaluation :)

Well, guys, let me say a few words about my main car - Toyota Carina. Part 1. The car is gasoline, engine capacity is 1.5 liters, 105 horsepower. Mileage at the time of purchase - 249,000 km. What I would like to say, in a nutshell - despite the fact that the car is almost 30 years old (1996), the car is in excellent condition, there are no body problems. During use (from the beginning of October 2023), it turned out that the car was really looked after, serviced in a timely manner, and new spare parts were installed. However, the quality of these spare parts left much to be desired. For example, the brake pads were installed, although new, but the cheapest of the existing compatible options on the market, which led to constant squeaks and whistles when pressing the brake pedal. And so in many components - in the engine, transmission, chassis, brake system. I will divide the post into 2 parts, it won’t fit into one :) To be continued!

By the way! I saw the news here, I hasten to share it with you guys, it concerns the revival of the 6-series.. And also about the complete abandonment of the XM series of cars xD Still, the “absolutely new car of the future” was not particularly liked by buyers. Did they really guess that the exorbitantly high price for this car would not interest anyone? By the way, I recommend the Russian car reviewer Eric Kituashvili, nicknamed Davidich, he has a review of this car, and it seems there are English subtitles, you guys can check it out. P.S. I see, Guys, that you are also interested in my Toyota Carina, which I use every day. Let me know if you want to hear more about it :) I’ll tell you what stories have already happened regarding the technical aspects :)
