Fictional BMW New Products Ask to Become Real BMW celebrated April Fool's Day on April 1st by announcing two unusual new products — special versions of the M2 sports coupe and the track-focused M3 GT3 Evo. Renders of both models were spotted on the brand's official social media accounts. The publication turned out to be a prank, but a number of media outlets have already started wishing that the sports cars actually go to showrooms. According to the company's plan, the BMW M2 was supposed to receive an off-road version called Dakar (similar to the Porsche 911 modification of the same name). The renders showed the coupe in a new body kit with extended wheel arches, additional lighting, and underbody protection plates. The M2 Dakar has a deliberately increased ground clearance and an expedition rack with a spare wheel. BMW M Motorsport has virtually transformed the M3 GT3 Evo racing car into a station wagon called the M3 Touring GT3.
