Famous people’s tweets being cross-posted here is a net negative It’s more talking head content that’s disconnected from the local meta and given they don’t reply, there’s no discourse either If you use the lens of disruption theory, we’re downmarket of X and we need “local” features, not shallow thinkboi transplantation

One kind of funny outcome is the inversed relationship for real users on FC. Most of us have bots farming our replies that we never respond to, where now I'm seeing real users replying to these famous "bots" as if they're really here and will never be responded to.

100% agree. discourse is the lifeblood of social networks and this crossposting just ends up being noise bc there’s no engagement/discourse from the original caster

Is it different if we’re talking about entertainment content? Like MrBeast cross-posting to X

personally feel they should be able to do it - bc it’s an open platform but also think that it shouldn’t be prioritized by algo - i don’t think many ppl here today want this place to look like twitter

That is a negative but is it net people who like FC but have invested years building an audience have a path to cut over without starting from scratch some % will start engaging here as well imo depending on what that % is dictates if it’s worth the negative cost you called out

yeah …. there is something very negative about the lack of engagement to responses. makes it feel like a dead part of the network. soulless vibes

You're talking about people posting famous people's tweets here, or famous people who are already here and cross-posting tweets themselves?

nailed it. feels like we are interacting with bots. i hope they at least consider adding a label that indicates that the casts were cross-posted.
