gm, fun fact: 50%-80% of people do not have inner monologue if you have a "voice" in your head — you're "abnormal" psychologytoday.com/us/blog/pristine-inner-experience/201110/not-everyone-conducts-inner-speech

This is cruelly phrased and misleadingly stated. In his work generally Hurlburt argues that 20-50% of people have an inner monologue frequently, while almost everyone does sometimes. If you have an inner monologue anon, you are far from abnormal. Also this 2011 blog post was based on a survey of 30 students.

"In one study, 26 percent of a random sample of 30 people talked to themselves inwardly." lol. So basically you just generalized a study where n=30 to the entirety of Farcaster or the world's population. Great job

I normally don't have inner monologue and feel pretty happy, just songs playing all day in my head, but when I do it's very negativistic and means I'm having a nervous breakdown 🫠

Posit strong correlation with aphantasia. Would be hard to operate with no mind's eye and no inner monologue.

Random sample of 30 students…very small. Hope he did more than just pass out beepers and interview them

Saw this a while back & find it so weird since my inner monologue doesn’t stop & is often why I have trouble sleeping. That people go through life w/out an inner monologue is mind blowing to me & my inner monologue.

I see inner things. I talk to inner myself. I don’t see words when I read, I hear them. I swear that the first time I took LSD it nerfed by inner feeling sensation.

It’s funny this has been brought up since I was just thinking about how the human language may have slowed down the thought process and if individuals think quicker or slower based on the language they know. I read Stephen Hawkins built diagrams and worked problems out visualizing 3D models in his mind.
