I took a photo of our pond 🌱 It was dug out in the 60s by that same biologist relative. He brought home different plants from his expeditions and created a garden around the pond with them. In his days the pond was also home to lots of fish, some were fishing trophies, others were bought in grocery stores and lived happily in the pond for many years instead of being eaten 😅 Now it's kind of in a beautifully decadent state, reminding me of the Monet's pond 🪷

After our country house remodeling I had an itch to get rid of all the junk collected throughout the years, most importantly these: a big old TV that didn't work anymore and 10 boxes of magazines from 70s-80s (tried to give them away but there was no interest). Googled if maybe there was a place nearby that accepted waste paper. And was surprised to find a whole recycling centre, which even said to accept electronics! 🥳 So yesterday we loaded our car and organised a recycling expedition. The lady at the centre told us to weigh everything, which is how we learned that the TV weighed 52 kg 😵 And our whole load totaled at 180 kilos! For which we even got ~8$, the biggest amount I ever got for recycling anything. Feels so good to clean up the space and know that those things we didn't need would at least be recycled ♻️

Ratatouille 🍆 🍅 🌶️ Such a staple September dish! Makes use of all the seasonal veggies 😋 - a can of diced tomatoes - 1 red onion - garlic - 3 cloves - 1-2 aubergines - 1-2 zuccinis - 3 tomatoes - 4 bell peppers - pesto - 150 gr (store bought or homemade) 1. Prepare a tomato sauce - fry onions cut into half rings, add crushed garlic and canned tomatoes. Reduce a bit, season to taste (I always add italian herbs and sugar). 2. Cut bell peppers into quarters. Grill them in an oven skin up on 180° for 10-15 min, until the skins turn black. Then put them in a bowl and cover with a lid, wait for them to cool a bit and then peel the skins off. 3. Cut aubergines, zuccinis and tomatoes in circles about 0.5 cm thick. 4. Take a rectangular baking dish, pour the tomato sauce in and lay out the veggie pieces - aubergine first, then zuccini, tomato and pepper. Repeat until there is no more space. Salt them and spread the pesto on top. 5. Roast on 180° for about an hour until soft. Bon appetit!

Dismantling this chair took roughly 6 hours. I know this because in the meantime I did all these things: - listened to a weekly @blablainvest podcast - 2 hours - listened to a true crime podcast - 1 hour - participated in a brain storming session for work - 2 hours - watched a YouTube video - 1 hour Wonder how long it will take to upholster it. I'll keep track 😏 Do you listen to anything in particular while doing handiwork?

Haven't been in the mood for social media lately, but since I've made up a rule for myself to write at least one cast daily (apart from Framedl results 😅), I've been feeling guilty about being absent. So this is what I've been busy with this week: - still swimming daily, although the water is getting colder - doing one of my all time favourite activities - sorting things into categories 🤩 I've unboxed books from ~12 boxes and put them on the shelves by theme. Most of them are from the 50s-70s, and there's a bunch on biology (they belonged to a relative who was a biologist 🌱) - today I went through the boxes filled with toys. Sorting through Legos and wooden blocks was tedious, but very satisfying 🤤 - I ordered a standing desk and received it today. Honestly feels life-changing, the best part is that I can easily stretch whenever the body tells me to. I did a downward dog while on a call 😂 (a photo of my very unaesthetic rig is included)
