I feel belittled by it. If somebody wants to convince me to eat fish from that region, catch me in a quiet second of my day and explain. You can say: But this is for the population. But then I still feel like it is the monkey-imitation version of communication, and I‘m feeling offended if I‘m smarter than a monkey

There’s a long history of public figures using such a device to shape public perception and behaviors; Lady Diana shaking hands with an HIV patient in 1987, Fernando Aiuti kissing another on the mouth in 1991, Elvis Presley getting vaccinated live on TV in 1956, Obama drinking Flint water in 2016, etc.

It is. I remember I lived in Japan back at that time of the accident. Vegetables from the Touhoku area were staying on the supermarket shelves. The Japanese were not touching them and neither were we.

Hmmm. I have become so skeptical of leaders now - how do we know it’s actually from there?

It is indeed good. The backlash, especially from China, to the release from Fukushima is total theater because they certainly release as much from their nuclear submarines and any onshore reactors that have ocean discharges

My home is not far from Fukushima. When disaster happened people were avoiding food from the area, but not so much any more. What can you do, need to move on. That being said. I feel for the children, who are affected more by radiation poisoning than the elderly.
