This article about two Asians who go on a date, and overcome the woman's own internalized racism against Asians is 🥲 Also yes, I've switched my username to my Farcaster username. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/12/style/modern-love-asian-racism-same-same-but-different.html

What if the crypto games we get are just going to be people working for AI, but with gamified interfaces? "Payman gives your AI Agents the ability to have access to capital so that they can pay humans for their expertise in completing specialized tasks they need done." https://www.paymanai.com

I've never seen a work of art that evokes the concept of "digital twin" like this. It's amazing, but it gives me a headache. https://vimeo.com/924733754/913915ab2c

Figured I'd share my favorite footwear, I've worn these in the snow capped Swiss Alps (this was admittedly a mistake) to summiting volcanoes in Guatemala, to the leech infested jungles of Sri Lanka. I've cycled hundreds of miles in them and run half a marathon in them (the other half I ran fully barefoot). These are the Genesis Huarache Sandals from Xero Shoes. They're nothing fancy, just 5mm rubber soles with polyester straps. The company even sells a kit for those who wish to make it themselves (though I wouldn't recommend it, it's too much work). I have had a couple duds where the straps snap soon after purchase, but for the most part they are reliable for many hundreds of km. They're fantastic for travel; they are light weight (130g each), plus all the weight you save by not packing socks. Your feet don't get smelly either due to not being enclosed. Among minimalist footwear I've tried, I've found these provide the most seamless transition to full barefoot running.

Bicyclists push a button before entering the tunnel to turn the flashing lights on to let cars know they should drive carefully for bikers in the tunnel. Europeans really missing out on the thrill of American biking. This is somewhere along the Central California coast during my socal to norcal PCH bike trip.

The Nature of Infinity (by William Blake) The nature of infinity is this: That everything has its Own Vortex, and when once a traveller thro' Eternity Has pass'd that Vortex, he perceives it roll back behind His path, into a globe itself infolding like a sun, Or like a moon, or like a universe of starry majesty, While he keeps onwards in his wondrous journey on the earth, Or like a human form, a friend with whom he liv'd benevolent. As the eye of man views both the east & west encompassing Its vortex, and the north & south with all their starry host, Also the rising sun & setting moon he views surrounding His corn-fields and his valleys of five hundred acres square, Thus is the earth one infinite plane, and not as apparent To the weak traveller confin'd beneath the moony shade. Thus is the heaven a vortex pass'd already, and the earth A vortex not yet pass'd by the traveller thro' Eternity. from The Illuminated Prophetic Books

Made another change to the travel setup. Swapped out a 0.48L thermos for a "portable kettle" and a 8 fl oz wide mouth hydroflask. I realized that I really like to be able to have a hot beverage everyday, the routine grounds me in the midst of travel. But I don't necessarily want caffeine/sugar, and it takes a lot of time and money to find that every day while traveling. And don't get me started on the kettles in hotels. Even in fancy hotels, the Nespresso machines/kettles are often not properly cleaned. As you can see, the 450mL kettle is not much bigger than the 480mL Zojirushi thermos, but it weighs almost twice as much. I got the wide mouth thermos because it's much easier to clean, which is helpful since I'll be having things other than water in it. In a pinch, I can blanch some kale or other greens with this setup, which can be nice because I often find when I'm traveling, I don't get enough greens. This change adds considerable bulk and weight to my setup, but hopefully it will be worth it for me.

Made a change in my one-bag travel setup. Swapped a packable backpack (can be folded into its own pocket) with a packable tote. I often wouldn’t pack the backpack and ended up with the awkward dual backpack situation so I figured a tote bag is easier to use together with a travel backpack. Plus it’s $20 from Peak Design, can’t go wrong, right? Feels a little flimsy but I guess that can’t be helped.
