people can easily see the benefit of providing feedback to Waze - it makes driving better for everyone. that has yet to exist in crypto

if waze comes onchain and gets tokenized it's game over for Google Maps it beats Google on travel time 90% of the time so their swarm algo is defo better by miles

Yeah, I get why people love Waze, but let’s be real, Google does own Waze, right? They bought it years ago. So I’m not sure how “independent” it really is anymore. I mean, sure, the community vibe is cool and all, but I bet Google’s got their hands all over it behind the scenes. Still, I gotta admit, the way people contribute for free is kinda inspiring. Makes me wonder what else we could do if we all worked together like that. 🤔

Tokenization of everything makes it difficult to identify the people who contribute for non-monetary reasons. Those people are the key to figuring out the product puzzle. It’s why you gotta think twice before issuing a token.

see this play out in the tiny open source repositories - i make it a point to sometimes just check those out (to feel different from the general crypto vibes lol)

What’s really cool about Waze too is that it was made and optimised to UK traffic on little streets with constantly changing traffic conditions. So it has genuine better utility than other big tech map apps. Also google office was/is developed in Australia and also kept its independence from the head office drones. Better is the best power of all.

i have a friend who is a TOP Waze contributor and its like a tic for her, keeps her mind occupied as she drives cause she's one of those people who needs to be constantly engaged (vs anything purely altruistic). pretty crazy to see her going after it live when she drives

one of my favorite human phenomena is how much easier it is to care for someone else than it is to care for yourself. So frequently I see someone sick and they don't think to go to the doctor, take medicine, etc. But when someone else is sick they're there with their Vitamin C, thermometers, and calling hospitals <3

that's the gamification at its best. you contribute for the "social scoring" that Waze gives you. without the points and status much less people would have contributed
