One way to characterize an era, is to look at the extent to which ideas of "scientific rationality" and "freedom" are pulling in the same direction, vs in opposite directions. I gave the leading AIs the Thiel question. First thing first, Claude absolutely smoked ChatGPT. ClosedAI "thought for 5 seconds" (hidden proprietary chain of thought) to come up with the exact opposite of a good answer--a belief that is basic, widely held, and wrong. It's all luck bro.

day 3 in sf after a couple years away. Seems it hasn’t changed much since 2016-2021. The downtown is still a mess, more closed stores, but fine. The edges of the city are still beautiful and great places to be.

been experimenting and doing at least 1 >3mi threshold session per day since 1/1 (400m-1mi intervals @ 10k-half marathon pace) not sure, but I think my body is already better at clearing lactic acid. feels much better running at pace
