Even though this is ostensibly a tech-dominated platform at present there are quite a few people I have encountered on Farcaster who are knowledgeable about politics, history, and even literature and philosophy. I’m genuinely impressed and can often get a good sense of others knowledge because of the right-sized message limits that encourage complex expression without sacrificing concision. One thing I love about the internet is that if you use it right it’s actually like a crowdsourcing tool for having millions of mini-teachers giving lessons around the clock. You could probably create a decent magazine or other publication drawing from tech people who have bases of knowledge in other fields, particularly the humanities. Any worthwhile intellectual project for public consumption is usually a team effort on some level with everyone bringing a different set of strengths.

Philosophy, my diploma is about sufism and Rumi. Now posting stupid pictures on FC. At the moment how I see farcaster - one half is developing blockchain technologies and testing on the fly, another half is masking, haming, moxing. Romero: *farts* => 100 comments “hello sir what did you eat today?”.

This is why the Farcaster teams approach to growth makes sense to me. Target crypto first and bring as many crypto natives as you can because most crypto people have other interests as well so they will start to fill out other bases or content as you grow. The approach makes sense to me. 🤷‍♂️

Well, I think BASE is the blockchain that hosts the most in-real-life pro-culture events, and Farcaster is definitely where you will find 90% of these people.

Apart from being a classical musician and a crypto girl I have an additional qualification in psychology. The topic of my diploma was “Influence of mass culture of the unconscious regulation of human behavior”. What you say resonates a lot with my work and how people show themselves on social media.

Just today on Farcaster I learnt more on growing broccoli sprouts to exploring Eastern philosophy. I just wish there were a more efficient way to sift through and organize all this information!

Agree. And with this existing group of people comes better curated content, such as what I've been finding in /books. I'm growing as a person by engaging with this platform.

Well said. There’s a lot of great conversations to be had here, you just have to sort through a lot of lols. The beauty is that you can choose where you want to spend time. Geopolitics, literature and history channels are less volumous but do lead to some great conversations.

A different product that’s intentionally small that actually did a magazine is Arena. They do an annual editorial with the community on there. I wonder if a FC client gets to that vibe Not as tech centered but tech forward. High quality too since writings are from people in the middle of serious projects like master’s theses, class curriculums, design projects, etc
