In Buddhist and Hindu teachings, a lot of deep things were said through art or stories so that the essence didn’t get lost in translation.

In the case of philosophy, many pre-modern writers believed that the full truth was dangerous to speak wrt politics. (Since politics is necessarily founded on and sustained by unifying myths) “Persecution and the Art of Writing” explores this deeply.

when writing: yes, you always gotta be a little straussian, otherwise it’s too easy for the reader when speaking: no, in fact saying the deep thing often surprises people, sets a new ceiling for the dialogue, this is tectonic in both group settings and 1:1
