the asymmetrical opportunities often come from the latter life is too short to spend so much time on things that constantly suck away our energy

I actually have been thinking about this a lot, and all the pressure (at times self-imposed) to be productive. Seeing oneself as a project to be constantly optimized, not a good way to live. To quote Hesse: But the high value put upon every minute of time, the idea of hurry-hurry as the most important objective of living, is unquestionably the most dangerous enemy of joy.

Yet for many areas of pursuit, I still believe (huge bias) that deep connection, often forged through long hours is what creates the foundation for new insights to be developed. When paths are worn through repetition and patterns emerge, then are recognized and embraced and this often requires time. The art of balance requires flexibility through different stages of life. Parenting … often results in “busy” at times.

100% agreed man I'm guilty of trying to go go go and do more more more (mostly from fear/lack of security and resources etc) but the best life I can think of would be one where you get like 1-3 important things done a day and accepting that that's plenty for 24 hours that should also be spent living/making memories

its true. ppl are convinced bc centures and centures ago it was true (agricultural society) : being busy meant you're productive which meant you can earn enough for yourself and family. But seems it's not true anymore.
