Consumers do care about branding, especially as a top-of-funnel driver for awareness. Lens had a subpar product and subpar community, which is why people didn't stay nor care about it.

Of course branding does matter a great deal, but in the end it's all about distribution. You can fail with a great branded product with bad distribution and succeed with a bad branded product with great distribution. That's the only difference there is.

I love Lens, but for the moment the platform is unusable and it's not fun it feels like a cave :D Here in WC is more "alive" and actually you can learn something even more pure information then X... so branding can't fix your experience

Spot on! Being on Lens from the very beginning , the project is dead, branding is nice? Yeah, but the team and Stani dont give a shit about listening to people, to support them, accountability is ZERO, communication - my 9yo daughter could do better. Happy that I listened to @moe and shft to @farcaster as my go-to social app!

branding = communication and narrative, not just visuals. A lot of people flocked to Bluesky because they liked the ideology of “decentralized social media” to take power away from big tech companies after their least favorite billionaire bought X.

The reason I faded Farcaster for 2+ years was because I assumed it was another version of the shittiest social experience ever, which is Lens. The moment someone told me Farcaster had an app and didnt need connect wallet and wasnt delusionally decentralized, I made an account here and Ive posted every day since.
