Noto is a strong option especially if you’re looking to use multiple languages. https://fonts.google.com/noto Style wise, I’m not sure there are many/any better than Internet right now… Helvetica?

better than inter at being a workhorse body sans serif? i can't think of any. I think where people go wrong is when they use it too much for titles and display. there are better options

Would add to this that there are good reasons (not just bc they have cash) as to why every legit company ends up commissioning their own typeface, but until then, Inter works well here

This is a loaded question, but assuming use case = modern web app that uses lots of text, Inter is the new "Helvetica" for a reason. That said, there are plenty of free typefaces out there that are better suited for other use cases, esp for print and/or titling. FC could level up by using a titling face, esp for logo
