Design pet peeve: Websites that hijack commonly used browser-level keyboard navigation (*ahem* Substack Editor) Disrupting my window-to-window, tab-to-tab flow is a no go.

I'm using Streamlit.io a lot for rapid prototyping AI apps for work But I've struggled to find a simple template for using OpenAI Assistants with Streamlit UI Finally found itā€”someone took it upon themselves to build it for the communityā€”just copy/paste šŸ‘‰ https://github.com/gabrielchua/async-stream-openai-st

It isn't anything major, but I've started writing again. I'm early in the process and still finding my groove For now, I'm doing a regular highlight of 5 things on my mind. This week it covers AI, robots, consciousness, and a product design for illiteracy https://mycrowdedmind.substack.com/p/five-things-0002?r=72k6d

posted this originally in /design but I keep thinking this should be a massed produced writing learning tool for young kids... who wants to build an open source version? Maybe upgrade the design with pen stroke animations https://youtu.be/-hynspzVzR8

I thought this was an impressive software/hardware combo with a level of feature and visual design simplicity that takes serious thought and skill. And all while aiming to solve for a basic human challengeā€”literacy and the hurdles to learning to write and read. Pretty cool imo. https://youtu.be/-hynspzVzR8

I've found I get better results from custom GPTs and Assistants when the knowledge files are in .txt format (versus PDF). If you're using Mac, here's a super simple folder action workflow you can build using the Automator app that will extract the text from any PDF and save it as a .txt to your desktop.

I tried to read Stanford HAIā€™s Annual AI Index Report 2024ā€”but itā€™s 500 pages šŸ˜… So I fed its contents to a custom GPT to make it easy to pull info from the report and ask questions about specific topics. šŸ‘‡ https://chat.openai.com/g/g-N0PjdB0AL-chat-with-hai-ai-index-report-2024
