The Meta AR glasses are cool until you find out that they are $10K and you can't buy them. Say what you want about the Vision Pro (they 100% botched Day 1 content and getting developers to build), it's $3K and available for sale. Expect v2 and v3 to get cheaper and lighter. You're not going to beat Apple by shipping cool concept videos with journalists.

Apple Vision Pro and Meta AR are on different product categories. Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 are on the same product category. Snap AR and Meta AR are on the same product category. I suspect Apple has been working on Apple AR, nothing external yet.

I’ve had vision pro since launch day. I haven’t used it for more than 15 minutes in months. It’s not as good of an experience as I had hoped for. Eye strain is real. But, I do agree that they will iterate better than anyone else. I just wonder how much more they can do with current/soon to be tech. Maybe im behind on what’s out there.

I think they're totally different products, Meta is leaning into AI way more than Apple (so far) and I wouldn't discount the fact that Meta already has the Ray-Bans out in the wild (which are extremely underrated)

Vision pro will get lighter, but won't get cheaper. Just check all the historical prices of iphones and theirs prices on the launch day. https://www.androidauthority.com/iphone-price-history-3221497/

The question is whether Meta is able to make it cheaper faster than Apple makes it portable and composable? Zuck’s a little further here imo

Not many companies in the world can compete with apple hardware experience, they even beat intel to it which has been in the business far longer

This is just a beginning, AR glasses has been around for a while, there is a lack of useable applications on (mainly) non-apple glasses. I tried Nreal glasses a while ago, and they retail for around $400. The new Xreal AR glasses look solid and they start at $200

I’d been holding out on the Ray Bans but the clear aesthetic got me after I saw it IRL today. They might have a chance at competing with Apple by getting people to wear $300 tech on their face all day first. And gradually adding more to that until it looks like Orion.

Eh, they shipped the Quest Pro *years* before the Apple thing, and it's still better. People I know who got both use the Quest Pro more, and most just returned the Apple attempt to clone it.

both have a lot of developer friction. a meta device probably stands on its own better but an apple device necessitates an apple watch, phone, and computer. looking forward to more competition here.

Meta AR glasses are cool but too expensive. Vision Pro is cheaper and available, with future versions expected to improve. Need more than concept videos to beat Apple

I remember Zuck also being upset and immediately jumping into defending the quest when vision pro was released 😂 I guess it's a fight or flight reaction when people see something they love being challenged.
