yesterday @jayme asked me how I balance running a startup (non-crypto, B2B SaaS) with side projects on FC. tl;dr have fun, learn and timebox Boils down to 3 things: 1. Am I having fun? I come here to have fun instead of doom scrolling X, binge drinking, etc. If it ever stops feeling fun I dial it back. I spend my day in B2B land and this is a place to flex my wackier creative muscle. 2. Am I learning? FC is a double whammy where you can learn a lot while having fun. Everyone amps each other up. And I try to absorb lessons I can also bring back to my own founder execution. tbh I've learned a lot from seeing Dan and Merkle operate. Ops and engineering masterclass. And from others I learn a lot about how to yap about what I build. I also dabbled with agents for the first time here and that's made me way more educated when talking to our customers about agent workflows. 3. Time box aggressively. Most of the code I write here starts with "what can I get done in the next hour?" And I'll ship whatever I have. Or come back to it when I have another hour block or some weekend time. AI has made this way easier! Most things I ship on here were weekend or one-night builds. FC is like a digital hacker house. Everyone has their own grind, but you also build fun shit just to see what happens. And I like to think we're all better for it!
