been thinking about channels ever since @ted posted this how does farcaster reward people for going deeper on a subject? how does it incentivize @matthewb to share about drinking chocolates or @keccers.eth to go deep on her health stack? basically…i want to replace my reddit searches with farcaster searches

yes, we need more niche communities to flourish here. but i don't think it's on Warpcast/Merkle to drive this. i think channels are a great primitive. we have good enough critical mass of interest based communities here. we need to give them tools to flourish themselves. and we need community entrepreneurs, who really care about curating and building their community. no shortcuts. https://warpcast.com/sahil/0x02a1cf1d

I’m not sure the Reddit goal you speak of is a core goal of the platform. I don’t think they envision this place as a repository for knowledge the way Reddit is. Their attitude towards expiring data is the chief reason I question this. Dan has said some data should “fall off” after a few years. How would that work for great topics where consensus has been found over years?

Just not sure there’s enough people to go too deep on any topic just yet. Unless it’s Ethereum :P

I suspect it's less about extrinsic reward and more about the appropriate UX Reddit is a forum, Farcaster is most of its manifestations right now (Warpcast, Supercast etc) are feeds Each UX nudges a different type of content creation and consumption approach Forum like client for FC is probably one way forward

by socially rewarding them for going deeper, not surface level influencers. same issue basil just hit with not supporting builders i guess we search different stuff though

Warpcast is not Farcaster. Warpcast mostly rewards you for engagement, but Farcaster is an open protocol and people can build other incentive structures on it

We need to build up to that. I'll gladly share stories over time but I'm not publishing an autobiography at the beginning of my time here. You have a valid point though. How do we get people to open up. IMO There's also the perceived desire. The audience often directs the conversation in the early phases. It may help to gather up like minded interests and create sub communities for them and create the conversation starters Self starters are rare... They need to find those people, the people with so much passion that would do it for free... Find the leaders and empower them to be leaders of the communities. The hard part though... Is finding the leaders... I know @ July discussed possibly conducting university level classes amongst others. What are some topics of interest you can think of? I'd be willing to teach train and mentor if the desire align.
